Las Cruces and El Paso

On our way to San Antonio, we stopped in Las Cruces for a week and visited Mesilla, El Paso, White Sands, and the Organ Mountains.  Definitely one of our favorite places.

Recycled Road Runner: This is on the hill above Las Cruces and is made of recycled material. Well worth the visit, loved the view of the Organ Mountains in the distance.

Mesilla: Historic town near Las Cruces.  We did a little sightseeing, shopping, and grabbed some dinner.

White Sand Nation Monument: We took a day trip up to Alamogordo and visited White Sands.  I've been to a few sand dunes, but this one is pretty unique, being a gypsum dune field.

Organ Mountains: Fun little hike up to Fillmore Canyon falls.  While it was flowing, it was just enough to get the dog a drink and wet our hats.

El Paso: We only spent a day in El Paso. That city is way to large for my liking. While there we hiked Aztec Caves in the Franklin Mountains State Park, drove up the scenic view for a view of the city, and met an old buddy for dinner.

On to San Antonio!
